Mission Inn Run 2011

So let me just start off by saying that Couch to 5K program can work wonders on you mentally and physically.

Now that that is said...Sunday I completed my first 5k in the Mission Inn Run. I ran the 5K in 32 minutes and 44 seconds which may not sound that great but I am very proud to have done it in that time for my first one. I completed my goal for the day and that was to run the entire 5K without stopping, no matter how much pain I was in or how tired I was. I DID IT!!! That alone makes me so proud, I finished! I finally finished something that I really wanted.  I had so much fun and it was such a rush! I absolutely love running, needless to say I am addicted.

Before doing C25K I would always mentally talk myself out of working out or doing anything active by saying I was tired or stressed, or I just had to much to do. But after the program I make time 3-5 times a week to run. It really is my time to clear my head and think about nothing but running and clearing my head of the day's garbage. I cannot wait to do another 5K soon. I am hoping to improve my time much more before I move on to 10Ks, Half-marathons, and full marathons. I don't want to push myself too hard just because I am excited.

So for now I am just going to make myself that much better running a 5K, then I am sure I will have stories to share about my journey towards a 10K, etc. Here are some pictures from the Mission Inn Run I have more to come...

Oh and p.s. I have the most thoughtful, sweetest future sister-in-law in the world. She had the above necklace made for me to congratulate me on finishing the Mission Inn Run. (She also had one made for herself). We plan to get a new charm for every race that we do.

Couch to 5K

Sooo yet again I am trying some new thing to try and get healthy and lose weight. This time around I am trying a running interval training program. It is called "Couch to 5K". This program trains you to run a 5K in about 8-9 weeks starting from scratch. I started Week 3 day 1 yesterday and I feel great. This program makes running so easy because you are building up your endurance, strength, and stamina. I am testing this program to the fullest of its ability. I am running the Mission Inn Run 5K in November. So that pretty much is finishing me right at the end of the program the day before the 5K in Riverside. I am trying to train my body and mind into thinking that I am a runner. I want more than anything to be a runner. My hope, seeing as this 5K goes well, I will be able to run a half marathon next year, and the L.A. marathon in 2013 with Scott.

Athena and Ann are doing the program with me, so it helps having other people hold me accountable Even though finishing the 5K without walking would be a reward enough for me, Scott took it one step further. Scott told Athena and I if we finish the 5K in 30 minutes or under he would treat us to Outback (sounds simple but its a rare commodity for us). Another bonus is that if we finish in the top 100 women we receive a medal, and who doesn't want a medal??

Needless to say I am very proud of myself and I cannot wait to see how far I can push myself and how well I do with the program. I am also excited for all the changes that will take place in my body and begin to feel better and healthy.

Fat, Sick, And Nearly Dead (Day 3)

Photobucket
So my sister and her husband watched this wonderful documentary and she couldn't wait to share all that she had learned from it. The documentary follows a man named Joe Cross in his journey to lose weight and his journey to lose his dependance on medication due to his autoimmune disease. He goes on a Juice Fast for 60 days in which he is traveling across America sharing his story. He encourages people along the way to try a Juice Fast not necessarily to lose weight but to Reboot their system and detox their body.  I have a hard time when it comes to food because I love it so much so I didn't think that there was any way that I would be able to do it but my sister and her husband both were.

After they had been doing it for about 4 days I decided I would try it. Not for 60 days (God I would die lol) but I decided 2 weeks would be a good number for me. Currently I am on Day 3 and I am feeling good. The documentary had warned that the first 3 days are brutal and that Joe was best in bed. But surprisingly after the first day it all got much easier. I am actually enjoying cleansing my body and looking forward to making permanent changes once I am done with the fast. I definitely wouldn't be able to do it alone. It has its up and downs, and you do get hungry (or at least think your hungry). But having my sister encourage me and my dad encourage me has really helped. I'm excited to see what happens.

I watched Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead on Netflix, so if you have Netflix look it up and take the time to watch it. It will really open your eyes to how you are treating your body.

Meet Cosmo

This past Saturday, Scott bought us our first puppy! His name is Cosmo
I am so very much in love with him already! I was worried that he wouldn't know I was his mama since I was working when Scott picked him up, but as soon as I got there he crawled right up on my lap and cuddled with me.
I am so in love with our new little family. The only sad part for me is that he lives with Scott so I only get to see him when I go over in the evenings after work and on weekends. I'm sure he will still love me anyways but it makes me miss him.
Scott is so very cute with him. It gives me a glimpse of how he will be with our "real" children some day. I love this man so very much. He really has no idea. Cosmo is the perfect way to start our little family and he came at the perfect time.

I am blessed

I have the amazing privilege of being able to be a Nanny to my wonderful niece and nephew. I love being able to spend so much time with them, time that I would otherwise miss. Lincoln can sometimes be a handful since he is in the colic stage, but other than that I am so enamored with him. I feel so blessed that my sister and brother-in-law trust me with such precious cargo. I only get Stella on Monday's and Friday's before and after school but sometimes that is just enough. It seems sometimes she hasn't quite got used to sharing the attention she used to get all to her self, but she is a really big help when she is there.

New Puppy!!!

This is our newest addition to the family...Baby....well I had originally named her Baby when we got her on Saturday, but my dad decided to change it to Kai on Sunday. I refuse to call her Kai so she is still Baby to me. I love her so very much and she definitely has the cuddle bug. She just loves to curl up in my arms or on my lap and just sleep for days. She also loves her big brother Bandit.

We are trying to convince my parents to let us breed her once she has her first heat. My mom wants to get her fixed but we are hoping to change her mind. I just can't help but think how cute her little babies would be.

Sweet, Sweet Baby I love you :)

January 26, 2011

Was the day my beautiful big sister blessed our family with a new addition.

Lincoln Jaxon Nelson was 7 lbs 1 oz 19" long.

He was perfect. She was only in labor for 7 hours, pushed 4 times and he was ready to show his face to world.

He is one lucky kid, he has a great big sister that can't wait to help her mommy take care of her "Lincoln boy"
